About the Photographer

In the summer of 1996, Paulette Thurman first noticed baby tree frogs in her northeastern Ohio garden. Every year they would emerge from a nearby pond to forage for food among the many plants. She found them nestled in lilies, dahlias, hostas, campanulas, and houseplants set out for the summer. She also found them on doors, windows, and siding. She even found them in the basement and once in the kitchen sink. So it was out of curiosity and amusement that the collection began. In no time, friends were offering to buy prints and enlargements. An idea was born. Beginning in earnest in the spring of 2001, Paulette has been photographing baby treefrogs each summer since and is now offering them by Internet.

Artist’s statement

"The photos speak for me, they make people smile, laugh, even shriek with delight. It’s great fun."
