Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do you get them to pose for you?
A. I don't, I wish I could. I take a lot of shots and every once in a while, get
a good one.
Q. You do this by computer, right?
A. Not at all. I use a Konica T3 and a great macro lens, and these are real
photographs of real flowers with real treefrogs sitting on them. And they do like to jump
around at times. They jump in my hair, on my glasses, on the camera, they're pretty bad.
Q. So, do you travel all over the world taking these pictures?
A. Can't say that I do. All of these were taken in my backyard. I do quite a lot of
gardening, and these are all my flowers, with one exception, the blue hydrangea (Andrew)
came from the yard of a kind stranger.
Q. What's your favorite photo?
A. That's a tough one because it changes all the time. Currently it's Walter - purple
crocus.
Q. How do you name them?
A. Some are family members, aunts, uncles. Others are just names that I like the sound of.
I name the finished product, the photograph, not the actual frogs.
Q. Where in my house would I put pictures of frogs?
A. Many folks like to put them in their kitchens or bathrooms - the 'water
places' of the house. Of course, the many folks who just like frogs are apt to hang
them anywhere!
Q. Why don't I see these treefrogs in my garden?
A. Many areas that once had these delightful amphibians have been drained and paved and
developed. In other words, we're crowding them out. And it's also true that because they
are so small and so perfectly camouflaged, some folks have them and don't know it. I'm
sure they were in my yard long before I noticed them.
